Jazz at Lincoln Center

Jazz at Lincoln Center produced a series of sold-out concerts in Havana, Cuba at Teatro Julio A. Mella in October 2010 as part of a cultural and artistic exchange. The concerts featured the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and included performances and appearances by Chucho Valdés, Maraca, Don Poncho and many other Cuban musicians. The week also included a “Jazz for Young People” concert and intensive workshops and open rehearsals. Cuban TV (TVC) broadcast the performances on national stations and a documentary team from Blacjac Entertainment Group filmed the residency. The historic event received extensive media coverage including coverage and taping for segments for 60 Minutes, CNN International, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Reuters.

GES provided complete production services for the concerts including consulting for venue selection and budget projections, technical requirements specifications, sourcing local equipment providers, and schedule coordination. In addition GES provided production staff for on site technical direction and stage management, as well as local crew management, and lead coordination between JALC, Institute of Cuban Music, Teatro Mella and TVC for all of the logistical and technical needs of the concerts.
